Our ice maker on Samsung RF197ACRS makes "ice dust" and small

Customer Question

Our ice maker on Samsung RF197ACRS makes "ice dust" and small broken cubes rather than ice cubes. It's gotten worse and worse in the last year. This model does not appear to have a water filter, which I would assume would be the most likely culprit. How else can we trouble shoot this before bringing out a repair tech? Thanks.

Hi, you want to make sure the water pressure to the unit is good. Take the connection off the back and verify the pressure is good by putting the hose in a bucket. it sounds like you have a water flow issue. The valve may not be opening all the way or the pressure may be bad. Sometimes the saddle valve that the main water line is connected to will fail. Sometimes the water valve on the refrigerator will fail. We work on the honor system here at Just Answers. Were not credited for our work until you rate our answers positively.
