Good morning, my whirlpool duet electric dryer won't function

Customer Question

Good morning, my whirlpool duet electric dryer won't function on automatic cycles.

In what way? No heat? No tumble?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It seems to default to a manual setting. Bulky, casual, and delicate won't do anything

Do the lights illuminate on those non-working cycles?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
They do not. I entered the diagnostic mode and the led's do not turn off when selected.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Manual timed dry works but the dryness level selector will not
Expert:  MRANSWER replied 1 year ago.
The interface is bad here and it's expensive too. It is the part right behind the console that your knob and buttons interact with. If you can make the dryer work to your satisfaction in other cycles then I would just do that.

How expensive?
Expert:  MRANSWER replied 1 year ago.
About $250 expensive

Yikes.... Manual it is....
Expert:  MRANSWER replied 1 year ago.
That would be the way to go- not much difference in all those cycles anyway- it still dries the clothes.
