I NEED A DIAGRAM TO SHOW ME THE CORRECT WAY TO HOOK UP THE WIRES TO THE TIMER CONTROL KNOB ON A MAYTAG ELECTRIC CLOTHES DRYER MODEL NO. PYE2300AYW SERIAL NO. 11867488CE. THANK YOU. NATHAN MCCLOUD,[email protected]
Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today.

So the schematic is really hard to read so I'm just going to tell you which color wire goes on which color terminal for the timer and if you have any questions you can let me know.

The RED wire coming from the heat selector switch connects to terminal "H"
The 2 RED wires coming from resistor and heating element connects to terminal "R"
The other end of the resistor connects to terminal "A"
The WHITE wire which comes from your power cord connects to terminal "N"
The WHITE wire which comes from the buzzer connects to terminal "B"
The ORANGE wire coming from the motor connects to terminal "M"
The PURPLE wire which comes from the motor connects to terminal "S"
The BLACK wire connects to terminal "L"

WHAT IS THE OBJECT THAT IS ABOUT 2 INCHES LONG AND HAS 2 WIRES AT EACH END THAT CONNECTS TO UNIT?

That is the resistor. It's definitely needed for the timer to advance.

thank you very much Tyler Z, I will take this information with me tomorrow to finish the job I started for a friend of mine today. I should have made a drawing of the unit to show me how to replace the wires that I took off but I did not. Thanks again.

Not a problem and I wish you only the best.
