lg front loader Model wm0642H Problem: 12 minutes left on a normal wash cycle...as soon as the drain cycle kicks in just prior to spin, there is a loud grinding noise..like plastic gears that are slipping. Please advise what this could be. thanks wayne XXXXX
I have already inspected the bottom filter and it was very clean. So I am figuring I have to get inside machine. I am handy. How long will it take me...approx? Or is it just one of those situations where I should just call in a service tech?
T...its a dilema...if I take apart now looking for the blockage and then i need the replacement part...I have to wait 5-10 days before I rec've. Tough to remember how things go back into place sometimes.

T...one last question. Any of these screws or gaskets to be removed....any chance of droping down and loosing forever....the gasket...tricky to put back?
Please help on this follow up.
I took machine apart as instructed, however the pump appears to be a closed unit...how do I know anything is stuck inside?
Also...if the unit is located bottom left front but the noise is top left side...could it be something else...or is it just the hose vibrating?
How do I clean out the pump.
Tyler...i cannot remove the pump....there is something holding the pump in place on the very bottom...cannot see what it is because the pump itself is blocking vision...what is there??
also...there is one last screw holding the front panel on the very bottom...right next to the lower filter...its a wierd angle and cannot get a screwdriver in there....just too tight...so i amworking w/ door at a 45 degree angle.
T...its been about an hour since i wrote u...since that time i was able to remove pump...took apart, found nothing inside...so....put back together and ran the machine on a small cycle.
No noise of any kind...don't ask me why but right now that is the case. Will wait a few days till wifey runs a full load ...will keep an eye on it.
Thanks for r help...have my fingers crossed.
