I have a Maytag neptune WM that has been working without a glich until this weekend when the computer is not acknowledging that the door is closed.
It tells me to close the door and press the start/pause button to continue.
When i do this it repeats the message and the door is closed firm.
do I need to wipe the computer and reset to see if that will work.
The machine is over 10 years old, and we have not had a problem with its over all functionality ever.

It was very common on the Neptune washers for the door switch to fail or the door latch mechanism to go bad and not signal the board the door is closed. First check the Cherry switch. It is the white switch with the round and has a rubber boot over it. You can pop it out after removing the rubber with a small flat screw driver. It was common to go bad or a wire to break on it. You may just need that switch. Check that first as it may be the issue. That is what signals the board the door is closed.
