It would appear someone has activated the child lock on your machine
Does your model have a separate child lock button or do you see a lock icon anywhere on the touchpad?
If it does not on most whirlpool models it's jus the heated dry button
either way use the child lock button (whether it be a stand alone button or the heated dry button) and press and hold it for 4 seconds the lock light will go off and it will be back to normal
If this doesn't turn it off report back and we can dive further into it
