Ihave a Whirlpool gas dryer. Just replaced the ignighter and coils , It lights up ok , But when it it fires up the flame only last for 15 - 20 sec. Is this normal for this machine.
Hi I,m John I will help you with the gas dryer problem .
When the gas ignites does it get sucked past the thermostat or is it a short flame ?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

John I am not sure of your question, Please explain

When the flame exits the valve does the flame get sucked to the back of the heat shield or does it just go out about 8 in .
Have you checked the venting to the outside ?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

John I am going T fire it up again and chek. But to let you know I all vent disconected.

So your saying the dryer was used with the dryer vent disconnected is that correct ?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Yes , and the flame also goes all The way to the back.

If the flame goes all the way to the back and the flame cuts off in 15 sec and the gas coils were replaced the part that needs to be replaced is the hi- limit thermostat which is located at the back on the heat shield .It may look different the this one but thats the one they show for your model .
