I have Kenmore / maytag #110.20702990. Wouldn't spin or agitate. Replaced broken motor coupling. Now tries to spin & agitate at same time on spin cycle. Did I screw up or is that why coupling broke in the first place?
Hi I,m John I will help you with the washer problem .
When set to the wash cycle does water enter the wash tub ?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

seems to fill up ok

Does it start to agitate when the water reaches the level you have set ?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

sorry for the delay. Yes ... it fills & starts to agitate fine

After the wash cycle does it pump out the water then go into the spin cycle ?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

At end of wash cycle water not draining. Waits for a while then tries to spin and agitate together. Before my "repair" water drained ok but wouldn't agitate or spin.

Right now it tries to agitate and spin but not draining is that correct ?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Yep .. but tries to agitate and spin at the same time

When that happens lift the lid for two seconds then close the lid , tell me what happens please .
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Shuts off when lid is up. Resumes same mess when shut. Water level appears to be down a bit.

The washer is suppose to stop for a few seconds before it drains, if it start to drain and spin right after the agitation the problem is with the Neutral drain in the transmission.
open this link for more info and the kit you require to mend the problem .The washer should drain without spinning after agitation stops. If it goes directly into drain and spin, the neutral drain mechanism in the gear case is faulty and needs to be replaced.
