Refrigerator ice in door flap not closing. Freezer icing up

This answer was rated:

Refrigerator ice in door flap not closing. Freezer icing up and ice cubes lumping together. How do I fix?

Repairman1981 :

Is it that it's not pulling back to the door, or is it that it's leaking when pulled back? They are two very different problems from a parts standpoing

Repairman1981 :

standpoint

Customer:

Flap stays open and not pulling back

Repairman1981 :

give me a min

Repairman1981 :

WR62X10055 This is the piece that will swell and prevent the door from moving. Here's the diagram

It's item number 36. You can order from 1-888-464-2853 And to replace you simply remove 93 by pulling at the bottom of it, then 3 or 4 screws (can't tell) hold number 58 in place, pull it forward and 2 screws hold the solenoid in. Once replaced you will be ready to go. Lemme know if you need anything else on this one. Thanks!

Customer:

Thank you. Could the drain also be clogged? - ice drippings in the back of the freezer

Repairman1981 :

just onto the floor or on the back wall?

Customer:

back wall, inside of the freezer compartment

Repairman1981 :

The drips are likely from warm air coming in through the door flapper and melting ice during the defrost cycle

Repairman1981 :

Id fix that before worrying too much about it. IF it continues or if it's frost instead of water droplets then you have other issues. There will be a sheet of ice on the floor of the freezer if the drain is clogged

Customer:

thanks!

Repairman1981 :

no problem. Lemme know if you need anything else. Have a great rest of your evening
