The water and ice cube features on my GE refrigerator door

This answer was rated:

The water and ice cube features on my GE refrigerator door keeps stopping and making a grinding noise. Emptied the ice tray and it is refilled so it is clear.
Not sure why the water connection would stop and keep grinding. Recently put in a new water filter, but think don't know if that could be the source of the grinding.

Could it be the water hose connection?
Thanks for counting on us to help with your appliance problem. My name is XXXXX XXXXX I look forward to helping you! So when dispensing the water it makes the grinding noise? Is the noise coming from the back of the refrigerator or can you tell?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

yes, when dispensing the water and the ice

it is a ratchet sound

all functions stop and nothing comes through

sound is coming from the back of the refrigerator

Great! Could the noise be described as a "chattering" type noise, like a relay clicking?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

yes, exactly!

a relay clicking...that is it.

Perfect! That will be an easy fix for you. On the back of the refrigerator is a metal, rectangular cover. Under that cover is the control board. That board will need to be replaced. The correct board for your model is pictured and available below.

Thank you for the follow up. We received the board today and just installed it.
The noise and grinding is now repaired: no noise, just a humming sound.

We noticed, however, that the water stream on the door is about 1/2 of what it was.
Is that normal?
The low stream is likely from a plugged filter or low pressure from the home. Have you changed the filter lately?
