I have a 110.82370820 Kenmore washer that will lockup. I turned the drive belt by hand and then it ran and did about 8 loads of wash and lockup again. Turned the belt drive and it is running again. The spin basket "walks" when the agitator is running.

Hello from JA
My name is Woody.
I will be glad to assist you today.
I have been servicing ALL Major Brands of Appliances for 33 Years,
and have over 100,000 in home repairs and over 50,000 phone and internet repairs under my belt.

Can you explain (locks up a little better)?

Do you mean the belt will not turn but the motor is running or humming?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Yes, that is what it is doing.

ok on these older belt drive models the pump has a tendency to seize up and that will not allow the unit to run but the motor will normally hum or just the motor slipps on the belt .

If this is what is happening the pump will need to be replaced.

When I turn the drive belt by hand, am I freeing the pump up and it will work for a while?

correct till it seizes up again ,

You can keep on having to un seize it every time or replace the pump.

Woody, The fact that the spin basket moves in a jerking motion when the agitator is running going to cause a big problem. I can hold it from moving by hand
Thanks Bob

ok if the inner basket is moving while the unit is agitating is abasket drive/ brake issue .

It would need to be replaced .

Or you will have to hold it every time.

But after looking the part up I see the basket drive/ brake is no longer available it was part number 359699
