Resolved Question:

Hi...we have Frigidaire washer, model #GLTF1670AS0 that was recently moved upstairs from downstairs. It is stackable and the dryer is on top of it. As soon as we moved it, we noticed the cycles weren't advancing so we replaced the timer. It worked well for about two weeks and now the final spin cycle is not spinning fast and their is still water in the washer when the cycle ends. Any idea what might be goin on?

FixAll :

Hi thanks for choosing just answer, have you checked the drain pump for debris?

FixAll :

sounds like possibly drain pump is clogged

Customer: Haven't checked it - not able to d
Customer: Haven't checked it - do we have to take the dryer off to check it?
FixAll :

no

FixAll :

there should be a toe kick panel at bottom

FixAll :

in the front

FixAll :

should be 2 or 3 screws in it

Customer: Can you tell us how to do it?
FixAll :

yes

Customer: Ok - can u hold on while we check it?
FixAll :

yes

Customer: We have the toe panel off- what r we looking for?
FixAll :

on the right side should be a big black rubber hose that connects to a pump

FixAll :

you gotta disconnect that hose from the bottom of tub

FixAll :

make sure washer is unplugged

FixAll :

and once disconnected reach down in and there is a basket like filter that lays in there, need to pull it out and clean it usually full of loose change and other things

Customer: Ok
FixAll :

but the whole cylinder basket just lays down in that big hose

FixAll :

it should pull out

Customer: Doesnit come off with a Phillips screwdriver? Hard to see
FixAll :

ya

FixAll :

i believe so been awhile since i did one should be phillips has a clamp around it

Customer: Ok
Customer: We r getting water coming from it
FixAll :

yes there will be some water in it

FixAll :

make sure its unplugged so you cant get shockced

FixAll :

but you will need to take hose off so you can reach your hand down in it

Customer: We feel no filter but there is change at bottom of rubber piece
FixAll :

hmm maybe someone removed the filter

FixAll :

most likely filter is further down in and its full of chance

FixAll :

change

FixAll :

sometimes its very hard to get ahold of

FixAll :

the filter is about the same circumference as change

Customer: My husband says he is at the bottom of it and there is change and he doesn't feel any filter
FixAll :

ok

FixAll :

well assuming he is at bottom

FixAll :

some of that change couldve possible got into the pump

FixAll :

you can also disconnect the end that connects to pump and check for any change that is down inside pump

FixAll :

remove any debris at all and reassemble

FixAll :

this should get you working agian

Customer: Where is the pump - the other black hose?
FixAll :

it should be at bottom of that hose

FixAll :

you have off

FixAll :

or it Y's off and its connected

Customer: Does it make sense to take the drain plug out of the one of the outlet pipes in the basement and flush water through this?
FixAll :

it wont hurt it

FixAll :

but most the debris that gets in there

FixAll :

it something that needs manually removed

FixAll :

change, bobby pins things like that

FixAll :

usually wont flush the pump is fairly powerful anything else would just get pumped out

Customer: We found a round reddish rubber piece when we checked the hose to the pump - does that belong in there?
FixAll :

that is a backflow check valve

FixAll :

was it just laying in there?

Customer: Well it's out now - should we put it back in?
FixAll :

if its out most likely wont go back in

FixAll :

its not a big deal

FixAll :

its possible it came loose and was clogging it up

Customer: Is that a problem - it was right at the end of the plastic pipe
Customer: Should it be okay if we put it back together?
FixAll :

yeah

FixAll :

the check valve keeps water from running back into the washer

FixAll :

but typically if you remove it, its not a big deal unless you have plumbing problems

FixAll :

try and reassemble see if it will drain ok

Customer: Ok
Customer: We r running it through a cycle and will get back to you - is that okay?
FixAll :

yes

FixAll :

just remember to rate my service

FixAll :

i do not get payed until it has been rated

FixAll :

you can return here anytime i will keep helping you till resolved

Customer: Thank you and you've been awesome!
FixAll :

no problem

Customer: Itbdidn't work - any other thoughts?
FixAll :

still no spin/

FixAll :

?

Customer: It spinned- just not fast at end and clothes still wet?
FixAll :

but water drained ok/

FixAll :

?

FixAll :

couple things i wuld check if this did not work is to checking the plug on the timer you replaced and make sure both plugs are pushed in tight sometimes these work themselves loose if they are not snapped in tight from when you changed it, even if they look tight push on them make sure they dont move, if that doesnt work you most likely have a bad door lock assembly even if door locks sometimes it will not alow a spin but i would check timer plug first

Customer: Ok - thanks! In the event we need a door lock assembly - can u tell us what we need?
FixAll :

you mean part number?

Customer: Yes
FixAll :

yes one sec

FixAll :

one more question is the timer not advancing?

FixAll :

does it sit in same spot or keep going?

Customer: It is advancing
FixAll :

ok

FixAll :

and how old did you say it was?

Customer: Keeps going
FixAll :

ok and its how old?

FixAll :

only reason i'm asking is depending on the age this still could be a bad inverter those were very common on some of the front loads

Customer: 6-7 years - not sure
FixAll :

but without test equipment hard to verify

FixAll :

the inverter is pretty pricey too

FixAll :

probably over $100

FixAll :

on this particular model though i would lean more towards inverter especially if its 6 or more years old

FixAll :

but obviously check the plug on timer

FixAll :

i can give you part #'s to inverter and lock both

Customer: Ok...I think we are going to call a repair person
FixAll :

ok

Customer: That would be great!
FixAll :

unfortunately without a meter i cannot have you check the inverter

FixAll :

but the inverter on this model is VERY COMMON with same symptoms you have

FixAll :

they even have an updated version of the inverter cause it broke so often

Customer: Ok...thank you for help!
FixAll :

and the inverter is the electrical box i located on the bottom down with the pump and all that

FixAll :

one sec i will get you part #'s

FixAll : NNN-NN-NNNN that is the inverter NNN-NN-NNNN that is the door lock
FixAll :

should be both updated part #'s

Customer: You have been extremely helpful - thanks for your help !
FixAll :

no problem
