I have a Maytag dishwasher Serial # XXXXX which I believe

Resolved Question:

I have a Maytag dishwasher Serial # XXXXX which I believe isn't on the recall list. It's leaking and would like to know what's causing that. I think it could be either the drain hose or the seal between the door and the main body/tub. Any ideas? Thanks - Edward

Hello good afternoon

Expert:  Kelly replied 1 year ago.
Hi there! If you could post the model number, we can have a look at what may be causing your leak.

Expert:  Kelly replied 1 year ago.
That is the serial number. The model number will look like ABC12ABCD01. It should be on the same tag as the serial number.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

I see okay I believe that that is MDBH968AWW2

Expert:  Kelly replied 1 year ago.
Perfect, thank you! Where exactly are you seeing the water appear?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

I only can say that I find water right beneath the door (not under the dishwasher itself.) the floor. Where the water is leaking from is only me guess.

Expert:  Kelly replied 1 year ago.
Okay, so it is likely leaking from the door area. Does it sound like it always has and have you noticed any diminished washing ability?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

I didn't pay any attention to other possible improper functions and it dif happen before. My first thought was that perhaps the drain hose was not operating properly. I did open the door once while it was the dishwahser was still running (after I noticed the water on the floor of course) and I found water on the tub - Thought there shouldn't be any, But then I could be wrong.

Does it seem very easy to close the door, like maybe so easy that the seal has been compressed?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Yes it is easy to close the door in a normal way like with a little push to locjk (on the left side of the door.)

Expert:  Kelly replied 1 year ago.
I believe I would replace the door gasket. That is really the most common leak source because it is just foam and gets compressed and does not keep a good seal. The old seal will just pull out and the new will push in, it is very easy to replace. There is not much else to leak up there, so I think that will solve the leak issue. The correct seal for your model is available below.

Expert:  Kelly replied 1 year ago.
No, it is a model specific part. It is available below.

Which gasket exactly that would be - I see two sets - one that is on the frame, the one that is screwed on the side frame and the other is the one that is on the dishwasher body itself. Again is that something that I can do or I need a repairman for that.

Expert:  Kelly replied 1 year ago.
That gasket is the one that the door seals against, number 13 below. It is the squishy foam gasket and it just pulls right out and the new one pushes into place.

Hello Kelly - I received the dishwasher door seal/gasket for my Maytag dishwasher as you suggested - it doesn't look it's the correct seal/gasket. It appears to be a bit wider than the one on the dishwasher right now. And the package does say that it is from Whirlpool Corporation Item# 1011918 Part# 99002588. Let me know if this will work or if I should return it for a replacement. Thanks

Expert:  Kelly replied 1 year ago.
Whirlpool owns Maytag and I have verified the part you need. The seal may appear to be wider since it is not compressed into the channel yet.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Thanks for your reply - I've installed the part however haven't yet run the dishwasher - will try later tonight Sunday. Will lwt you know how it went.
