I have an Inglis refrigerator and I have this problem :

Every 2, 3 weeks, the freezer coils become full of ice.

I use a hair dryer to melt the ice, but the problem comes up all the time.

2 technicians came and replaced the same part 2 times, a part for the defrost.

What I should do ?

Randy 43 :

hello, which part did they change ? and does the complete evaporator frost over completely? thx randy

Customer:

The part is a supco brand model PSA140100

Randy 43 :

there are 3 parts of the defrost cycle , heater ,thermostat and the timer ..do you know which part it was? that part number doesnt come up on my parts site, thx

Customer:

I think its the timer

Randy 43 :

Randy 43 :

this is the timer , did it look like this?

Customer:

Yes, it look like this and it has 4 branchs

Randy 43 :

ok , thats the timer , did they even check the defrost thermostat in behind the freezer panel? or thaw the evaporator out ?

Customer:

I don't know what they check

Randy 43 :

usually if it doesnt defrost it is a open defrost thermostat ,that is what i find , if you have a meter you can check the thermostat ,when it is cold or frozen it should have continuity ,or be closed internally , the heaters hardly ever go and the timer has been changed twice ,changing the thermostat will fix the problem
