Does the water dispenser still work on the unit, and have you checked the bulb to see if it was still good?

The water dispenser still works and I replaced the bulb with a new one. The bulb will not light up.

If you remove the kick plate below the door, near the left hinge, you should have a wire harness connector there. make sure that it is plugged in all the way and making a good connection..

I removed the kick plate but the only wire harness is in the back of the refrigerator. To gain access to that harness, I will have to pull the refrigerator away from the wall and remove the back. The correct model # XXXXX: GS6SHAXLS03. I can't read my writing.

Okay, I did some research in the meantime. Most likely one of the microswitches broke off inside the dispenser, you pop off the cover of the dispenser you will see this.. it holds a micro switch on both sides, one for water and one for ice.. Need to see if it broken..

That's the problem. It looks like I will have to replace the entire plate since it is all one piece.
