our ge self-cleaning convection oven (js968) has an F2 number and flashes in the display.

We tried cuting the power and it still came on.

Hello, Thank you for using this service, I will be helping you with your problem today.

Good evening, this is a common failure, the F2 means the temp sensor has failed and the oven over temped or at least the control thinks it did, this sticks out of the back of the oven inside. open the door and look on the back wall. Oven Sensor WB23T10015 Main Product View you need to order and replace it. heres a link to the part. hope this helps, thanks , Bryan

If we decided to fix it ourselves, how does the sensor come out?

there are two screws holding the sensor to the back wall (1/4 inch heads) remove them and pull the sensor in. this may catch a bit on the plug but you can work it through. once its through unplug it and plug the new one in. pretty simple job. you can do this yourself. thanks , Bryan
