how do i safely remove frigidaire model faz08hr1a window unit that is mounted through the wall?

Hello, Thank you for using this service, I will be helping you with your problem today,

Good morning. the unit itself slides out of the casing in the window. the casing is part number 65. the air conditioner slides out into the house. (comes out through the inside) if you remove the front assembly number 1 there is usually a handle you use to pull the unit out. be careful these are heavy. once the unit is out you can remove the casing. hope this helps. P.S. sometimes they can stick and be hard to get moving to remove but it does come out. also make sue there are no screws holding the unit in the casing) I don't see any in the diagrams though, the base is number 39 and is the part that slides out with the unit.

there appears to be 2 small screws that hold the unit to a type of trey. i believe this trey has a type of handle to pull the unit out. it also appears that i will need to remove a grounding wire screw. does this sound correct. also, so you are saying that this inner unit will slide out completely leaving the metal cover unit to then remove? thanks

yes thats correct. the metal cover (casing) will stay in the window. you can remove that after you have the unit out.
