This answer was rated:

The plastic tray/shelf that covers the ice cubes when they are forming will not move forward to cover them. It keeps returning to the bottom and the water comes in on top of it. The ice makes gets cold and the motor starts with no problem but then shuts off when the tray doesn't move.
Hi there. thank you for choosing this service. i am quite not sure what part it is that you are talking about. could you please post the model number? thank you.

It is a Majic Chef stand alone ice maker. The model no. is MCIM30SST. It is the part that empties the ice into the holding tray. It covers the part that forms the ice and then moves the ice into a tray that I can lift out to dump the ice.

Hello,

You can try testing or checking the micro switch at the end of the shaft where the moving tray is connected.

Remove the housing by removing the screws at the back of the unit and the other two screws at the bottom of the unit.

Once the housing is exposed, the micro switches can be seen at the left side of the shaft of the tray, facing the unit.

Make sure both switches are being triggered by the rotating shaft as well as the contacts of the switches are connecting.

It would be item 11 on the picture.

If the tray raises up, it would trigger one of the micro switch to tell the computer that the unit is ready to make ice. But if the computer did not detect that the tray is already up, then it would bring it down again and stop the compressor.
