You may have several issues here going on at once. Was the machine noisy when it was out of balance aside from the shaking noise itself? Bad bearings tend to make a screeching or roaring noise when in spin.

No large rug was spinning

The motor probably was overloaded with this heavy load and the fuse blew on the main board. the fuse is NOT replaceable- you need a new board to resolve it. I doubt anything came loose here, but you can check the wiring plug-ins anyway. Make sure to call up whoever you want to buy the part from with the full model and serial# XXXXX the unit as parts vary from what on-line look-ups show as this will ensure you get the right board.

Wires going to control bd. were mashed together and shorted out.
