I have a whirlpool Gold washing machine with catalyst cleaning action that has been in unheated storage for about three years. We just reconnected it recently and ran in through a normal cycle. It seemed to work okay, but when I did a wash with laundry it seems that the rinse spin cycle is not working properly. I tried the 'extra spin' but no go.CAN YOU HELP ME. IT DOES NOT SEEM LIKE THE TUB IS TURNING, SHOULD IT?
Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today. So what do you mean the rinse/spin cycle is not working properly? Is the washer still draining?
the washer seem to be draining okay, but when the cycle is completed,
the laundry is still wet and there is no water in the tub.
OK so can you start a cycle and see if it agitates still? Often time when this issue happens the washer will stop agitating as well.
I wii have to go downstairs and start the cycle to see if it is agitating, It will take a few minutes.
ok, just let me know.
Yes, it is agitating. It is only agitating one direction, clockwise
OK, so that is normal I think. The bottom should turn back and forth and the top should just turn clockwise---is that what is happening?
yes
OK so unfortunately this means that your clutch is slipping and would need to be replaced. This requires removing the entire outer shell of the washer, removing the agitator, and inner tub, removing the drain pump and motor, and then removing the 3 bolts out of the transmission mounting it to the frame of the washer. The transmission will then drop down so that you can replace the clutch. This is probably something that you want to have a technician replace for your unless you're fairly handy with repairing things like automobiles. The cost to have someone replace the clutch would be about $185-200 or so.
