My kitchenaid stand mixer model#KMS5PSWW quit working after I removed the two screw things on the side of the motor housing that hold springs in. I put them back, that's when it quit. Please don't ask why I removed them to start with, although I am brunette, it was a blonde moment...

Wrong. I took it out again and it's a metal piece that looks as if it fits into a gear whole or something.

You should have had to small black pieces that are called brushes under the springs, are you sure that you did not loose them?

there were black triangle - ish pieces of metal but i didn't lose anything
