We are having problems with our Maytag Neptune MAH 5500 BWW (Serial number: A2916766CL): at the end of the wash the machine does not drain the water. We initially unplugged the machine for about an hour and turned the machine back on, no change. Any ideas?
Welcome..I have 23 years of Experience In the Appliance Repair Field..Working directly with All Major Appliance Brands...When this happens does the door lock light stay lit Also can you hear a motor running while this happens..?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
After pushing the start button, the door lock light will go on, then turns off, and after 10 seconds turns on again and locks. After another15 seconds the machine starts to go through its cycle "as normal" but does not drain. We tried this several times.
As it does not drain is the door light still on..?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
The door light stays on throughout the cycle as normal.
If the light stays on..Then this means your drain pump is either clogged or faulty..What you will need to do is check the pump#11...To access remove screws #13...#16..Then remove panel #15..Once you have access you will need to do is remove the water in the drum (A shop vac works well here)..Then remove the drain hose to the pump..Then check the pump for blockage..Keep in mind that there will still be a good amount of water in the bottom even tho you removed it from the drum.
