My dishwasher worked a little after you helped me reset it but it seemed to have problems getting started. Now it doesn't work at all. After flipping the breaker off for a while and turning it back on the soak and scour light starts flickering. When I push cancel, the normal cycle light, lights up. When I push start the normal light goes out. I doesn't start. What's up?
Optional Information: Brand: Whirlpool Type of Appliance: Dishwasher Already Tried: Flipping the breaker off. Waiting and then pushing start. Pushing cancel, then start. Pushing a bunch of other buttons and cancel and start. Etc.
Thanks for counting on us to help with your appliance problem. My name is XXXXX XXXXX X look forward to helping you! Your touch panel is experiencing a failure. You will likely need to replace the control panel but there is a trick you can try first. Use a hair dryer to heat the panel up until very warm while "massaging" the buttons. Often times, this will restore operation. Be sure to get the panel very warm but not hot enough to damage the plastic. If this does not work, the panel will need to be replaced. Let me know what happens and I can get you the correct part information.
Hi again Kelly: I tried the hair dryer and it seems to have worked! For now anyway. If it stops working right, I guess I will have to replace the control panel again. I did that several years ago on the advise of one of your colleagues and the was that until this summer. The part isn't made for long term performance. Apparently it's more like a light bulb or a heating element. I replaced that once a few years ago as well. Thanks for your help. Michael
