i have a whirlpool model # XXXXX that's not working it fills up but the clothes are soaked and it never finishes washing
Optional Information: Brand: whirlpool Type of Appliance: Washer Already Tried: took the pump out and re-installed it
So you are saying that the unit fills and then just stops ?
It acts really funny. It does not sense like it used to. Then it fills and does not do anything else.
ok do you have a Volt-Ohm meter to check voltages at some components in the console?
No but I can get one
,Do I need to get one?
ok you need to check the pressure switch .
Can ytou give me that number on the end of your model number wtw4950xw?
Where do you find model number?
I got the number off the paper work from lowes
This is a clothes washer.
open the lid and it will be under the rear of the lid
Yes I know it is a clothes washer ,just need to know which one!!
wtw4950xw0
Thank you !
on the pressure switch with the tub full of water the contacts 1 and 3 should show continuity (closed switch ) if the switch is closed and it still does not agitate or advance you have a faulty Main control .
Where is the pressure switch
in the console on the leftside when looking at the unit from the front , it has two wires going to it and a clear tube !
where should I take the continuity readings from. I found the clear tube.
remove the two wires from the switch and then test the two terminals on the switch itself
Just do not remove the clear tube!!
My wife is going to get the tester. I will respond once she gets back.
no problem I will be online till 5 pm EST
i found a clear tube on the right but that is the only clear tube
yes only one tube and then the two wires go to same switch as the clear tube.
around the clear tube there is nothing with two wires. everything has 4 wires. and the tube is on the right not the left
The parts breakdown and tech sheet shows it on the left side when looking at it from the front .
that isn't my washer. the clear tube goes in to the main control board and its only about 2" long. nothing with only 2 wires
Can you check your model number again please you gave me wtw4950xw0 before?
yep thats right
Ok I see that one Whirlpool site has the wrong tech sheet under your model number .I did find the correct one !!
Yes your model the pressure switch hose goes right into the main control , which mean your issue is the control board itself .
This parts link is for part number and price reference only,, you can purchase the part at any local Appliance parts dealer in your area.
This is the cheapest place I could find .
