50 gal heater, SN XXXXXXXXXX Model G50T12XA The tank is full or hot water and there is pressure in the system but there is no hot water exiting the heater. (The connector from the heater to the home is disconnected to confirm there is no water exiting). Before I file a warranty claim to either repair or replace the unit, could you tell me the problem? There is 2 months remaining on a 12 month warranty.
Optional Information: Brand: GE Type of Appliance: Other Already Tried: Checked the cold water pressure to the system; checked the pressure from the relief valve and checked the pressure form the draim. There was pressure at all points and the water was hot. I loosened the connector from the hot watrer nipple to see if there was any pressure there and there wasn't. I actually removed the connector althgether so that the hot water from the unit is uncapped and not a drop of water emerged. Since no water is exiting the heater, my home has no hot water.
Hello, and thanks for your question! My name is XXXXX XXXXX X am happy to assist you today!!
Does the heater have a water circulation pump connected to it??
There is nothing external to the water heater and the instruction manual does not mention a water circulation pump.
Ok, if your not getting anything at all from the outgoing water pipe then there has to be a blockage. There is nothing at all getting out? not even a trickle??
the open exit nipple is dry.
Ok, then if you have a "flood safe" valve on the water heater that has gone off and blocked the water flow out. It thinks you have a broken pipe and that the water was flooding the house. So, it shut down the flow of water
Try shutting off the ingoing water and drain part of the tank to relieve presure and then try it again.
It sounds like you have a saftey valve that shut off the flow.
I shut off the gas, drained the entire tank, refilled the tank and turned on the gas, heated the water and this did not have any impact on the lack of hot water flow from the tank.
Some water heaters have the shut offs installed and some dont. If yours has one then you need to have it serviced, if you dont have one then You should also have it serviced to find the blockage or replace the tank.
I would call it in as a warrantee call.
I hope this helps narrow down the issue for you.
If my assistance was helpfull please give me a possitive rating, if not im still here to assist you any way I can.
