I have a Vulcan VFB 12 FlashBake Oven. It has worked great

Customer Question

I have a Vulcan VFB 12 FlashBake Oven.
It has worked great for many years.
Today, though, when turning the unit on, I get

--> Press ANY key <--

...I do this and the oven still does not turn on.

Can you help?
Thank you.

Hello Sir or Madam and thanks for choosing the Appliance category.

  • Check the fuse and circuit breaker at the back of the Vulcan VFB 12.
  • See page 7 of the link below:

Thank you for your response.

I will order 2 new fuses to see if this provides a fix.

Once received, I will let you know if the problem is resolved.

Do you have a multimeter?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
no, I do not...sorry.

thanks for your follow-ups...ordered the fuses, will get them next week...will let you know the results.

not sure, though, this is the problem because the display says 'press any key' to solve the issue.

wouldn't the breaker pop out if the fuse were the problem?

Expert:  romr2009 replied 4 years ago.

  • No.
  • The fuse usually acts faster than the breaker so once the fuse is blown, the breaker has no function to perform because the circuit is already broken.

  • Try a power on reset:
  • Turn off the unit at the circuit breaker.
  • ----- Wait 20 minutes. -----
  • Re-apply power.

  • If no change you will need a mutimeter to check the fuses.
  • The problem can also be in the heating elements, the keypad, the controller or the power supply.

You are really helpful [I will not forget, once this is fixed].

I am out of town now but will check later this weekend.

And, even if no luck, hopefully the new fuses will solve.

If it turns out that I need other parts, can Vulcan still supply them per the manual you sent me?

Another question: I really like this unit and would be interested in buying several brand new units. I realize they are no longer being manufactured, but maybe Vulcan or Hobart have a few sitting in warehouses somewhere? Maybe a dealer does?

I have seen refurbished units for sale on eBay but am much more interested in new.

Thank you for your excellent support.

  • Try their new website:

  • It would be hard to find new because it costs money to warehouse products and hold them for sale 6 years later.
