Customer Question

how to make the on/off bailer go to the on position -- will click up to the off but not down far enough to trigger ice making in my Whirlpool fridge

Optional Information:
Brand: whirlpool
Type of Appliance: Refrigerator

Already Tried:
changed the water filter; cleaned the junk off the condenser. Water does come out the water dispenser but no water is going into the mold so I believe the bail is "stuck."

Tim Alan :

Hi my name is XXX, X will try and help you with your issue.

Tim Alan :

That is actually a common problem with those types of ice makers, the bail arm switch becomes jammed or stuck and does not reset for a new cycle.

Tim Alan :

Most of the time the only option is to replace the ice maker, you can try to remove the bail arm from the mechanism and reinstall it but most of the time you will end up replacing the ice maker

Tim Alan :

If you need further assistance, I will need the complete model number of your unit.
