my whirlpool duet will not start; however, the interior light is on. I've unplugged and checked the circuit breakers and everything is normal.

Hello, Thank you for using this service, I will be helping you with your problem today
do you have the model # ? does this do nothing when you press start? no noise or anything at all ?
model #GEW9250PW0. Does nothing when I press start. The Heavy Duty light is glowing very faintly as is the High temperature light.
okay, if the power is good the thermal fuse has blown. these will stop the dryer all together and are not resetable. you will need to order and replace it. http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Thermal-Fuse/3392519/2986?modelNumber=GEW9250PW0 just click that blue link , its located on the blower assembly, to access this remove the panel # XXXXX on this diagram, and its part # XXXXX on this diagram thanks and best wishes, Bryan
Do I remove and check the fuse before I rate your answer?
you can if you wish. theres a video on how to test the fuse at the link I gave you. I pretty confident thats the issue .

Brian, the fuse replacement did not solve the problem. What should I do now?
okay do you think you could test the door switch ? even though the light comes on this could still be faulty. do you have a volt meter?
Yes. But, could it be a door switch if the digital panel is showing nothing?
yes,if the switch isn't working correctly it may think the door is open. its like when you open the door the machine stops. heres the link to the door switch test. http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Door-Switch/8283288/905837?modelNumber=GEW9250PW0 at least test that.
Bryan,
I replaced the Thermal fuse with a second one (I bought two). The second worked. I cleaned all the vent tubes and it now appears to be working fine. Thanks.
okay ! great, weird you got a bad one but it happens, thanks and well wishes, Bryan
