Optional Information: Brand: GE Type of Appliance: Washer Already Tried: GE clothes washer wont spin Model wbb4500g1ww Did not agitate last night. Lid switch is hard wired and leads into a taped group of wires. Unplugged washer for a minute and open and closed lid 6 times.

ok, when the washer should be agitating, do you hear the motor running? Or is the washer completely silent?
I do not recall. I will do another test. I believe it was silent for a long time and then I heard it running

It is silent and the indicator light indicates "wash"
OK so this is either going to be a bad motor assembly or there will be an error in the form of a flashing light on top of the motor. You said that you didn't see a flashing light on the top of the motor where the inverter is located, so you'll need to replace the motor assembly because it has just failed. For this washer, you'll need to order part number WH20X10058 which is about $230 or so.
The drain motor just came on.How difficult is it to replace the motor and do you have instructions?
There really aren't instructions, but it's fairly easy to replace. The problem is really putting the belt back on because it's very tight and is supposed to require a specialty tool to re-install the belt which is why it's best to have a technician do this repair. That being said you can unplug the washer and remove the 4 bolts in each corner of the motor, then disconnect the belt and the motor will pull off so that you can replace it.
