I have a whirlpool washer and it does not spin very fast and the clothes are wet when done. What should I check first?
Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today. So the washer does spin, correct? Just not fast enough?Do you have a model number so that I can see what might cause this? It should be located on a sticker under the lid near the hinges.
It is a ultimat clean, I am not at the house right now so I can not give you the model number
OK perfect. So unfortunately it sounds like your clutch is slipping. Below is a video that shows you how to replace the clutch on these ultimate clean style washers.CLICK HERE
I am going to go and take it apart. How can I make sure it is the clutch that is slipping>
That really isn't an option. You sort of just need to go with the symptoms. If the motor is running and the tub is just spinning too slowly, the friction from the clutch isn't gripping enough causing the tub to spin slower. You can definitely replace the part yourself if youre handy though.
As I was pulling the machine out to unhook the hoses I noticed that the drain hose was kinked. Before I did anything else, I unkinked the hose and ran some water through it. It turned out to be the kink in the hose was causing the water to drain slow and would not let the tub come up to speed. Once the water was draining the tub picked up speed and the water drained out. The first load of clothes were a lot dryer when the cycle was complete. It has been working for a week, so far so good. Thanks for the info on the clutch.
Awesome. Well I hope everything continues to keep working.
