I have a Maytag Epic Z front load washer, model # XXXXX It just stopped working. The power is on but when I select the cycle & press start the washer just shuts off. I've used it twice already today with no problems.
Optional Information: Brand: Maytag Type of Appliance: Washer Already Tried: Tried running it on a different cycle. Unplugged unit for @5 mins, tried again. Checked water hoses for clogs.
Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today. So this is actually a really bad error and it commonly happens on this washer, but the reasons it's so bad is that there is no way to test exactly what the problem is. The hoses being clogged, wouldn't cause the washer to shut down without beeping constantly and flashing an error code just for reference. The issue you're having, means that the main control board (CCU) isn't getting a response from the motor control board (MCU). There is no way to test whether the CCU is shorted or the MCU is shorted and not responding so you just have to replace one of the parts. Generally the motor control board is the faulty part so below is a link to the part I'd recommend ordering and replacing. It's mounted to the floor underneath the tub.CLICK HERE
