Serial #AEU779346. My washer died mid cycle. Have tried all the options suggested in the manual to no avail. Is there an internal breaker that could be causing the problem?
Optional Information: Brand: Fisher-Paykel Type of Appliance: Washer Already Tried: Unplugged machine to reset, checked house breaker, checked the plug, checked the outlet and tried plugging into another outlet.
Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today.Unfortunately there is not an internal breaker. If your washer is completely dead with no signs of life and you're sure it's getting power, that means that your main motor control board in the back right corner under the control panel has failed and will need to be ordered and replaced to fix the issue. The part is generally about $150, and if the washer stopped mid cycle and it's full off water, usually that means that the drain pump got jammed and caused the board to short out (common problem with these units). To check the drain pump, you will need to manually drain all the water in the tub then tip the machine backwards so you can access under the bottom and unplug the unit. The drain pump is located in the front right corner. It has a fan blade hanging from the bottom of it. Twist the fan blade an if it doesn't spin freely, you need to remove your drain pump and clear the blockage above it. There is a plastic tab that you can push on and then the entire pump will twist and pull off. Check for a blockage and if you find nothing, then just replace the control board and you should be good to go.
The tub has no water in it. It seems to have died during draining but before the spin cycle. The clothes are not pressed to the sides of the tub as they would be if it had spun and the clothes are still dripping wet. The fabric softner bucket is still full too so I am sure it had not spun. Do I need to just order the main control board or is there more I need to do?
I'd still check the drain pump as advised before just to make sure it's not jammed, but if the fan wheel spins freely, then I'd just replace the control board.

Fan blade spun freely. Applied new part, reset part to setting suited to my machine. Washer worked fine till the first spin cycle engaged....machine dead same as before. ....Do you have anyother ideas on what might be causeing this?
well the control board will need to be warrantied out, but either the drain pump is bad or the diverter valve has a direct short in it. The diverter valve is in the back right corner under the tub and it's the part with (3) 1" hoses going to it. If you test between the 2 wire terminals on the valve and it has less than 3 ohms resistance, replace the valve, otherwise replace the drain motor.
