I have a GE gas stove which was new when my home was purchased in 1988. The serial number is XXXXX and cannot be read. I had a service technician come to address a burner that does not light with the "sparking" unit. The front lights and the back burner does not. He cleaned the burner gas ports and confirmed that gas is reaching the burners but two of the burners now do not ignite with the "sparking" unit. The same spark lights front and back but two work and two do not. Shall I call service again or is there a simple fix I am overlooking?
does the spark look strong to the back the back burners ?
The spark looks the same. One burner which does not light is right front and the other burner not lighting is left back. All four use the same spark.
ok chances are that the burnter control may not be allowing gas flow..you either have a bad burner control or the ports may just need to be cleaned out as much as possible.since this is a very old model. you may have massive grease build up.
It was checked and all burners are recieving gas flow and can be lit with a match. It is just the spark that does not ignite the burner.
ok try this yourself, remove the burners that do not light on there own.then use perhaps an air compressor to clean them event hough they seem clean there can still be a bit of blockage that will cause it not to light up on there own
sorry i meant to say eventhough
