Samsung side by side has a problem overfilling the ice tray.

Customer Question

Samsung side by side has a problem overfilling the ice tray. More specifically, water runs from the fill tube and creates blocks of ice in the bin and sometimes drains out of freezer to the floor. This happens at random times and NOT just when the icemaker calls to fill after harvest.

I tested the water inlet valve (hardwired 120 VAC) to check if the solenoid was working ok and possibly not closing. I saw NO a problem with the water inlet valve. Any ideas what else to check for this problem?

Thank you for the information.
In almost all cases I have seen, the water solenoid is to blame for this.
It will leak very slowly but enough to cause this problem.
It may not leak all the time but it will leak on various fills of the ice tray.
You can obtain (and its inexpensive and easy to replace) the solenoid kit from Cashwell Appliance:(NNN) NNN-NNNN
They are relaible and will ship the solenoid kit to you the same day you callSmile
All you will need is the model # XXXXX you call them, just tell them you want the water inlet solenoid kit for the ice maker and they will take care the rest.

Please note, pressing the ACCEPT button does NOT close your question. It actually keeps me in the loop with you, and allows me to continue dialog with you until the problem is solved. It costs you nothing more to press to accept button.
I will still be here for you until the job is complete and you are satisfied.
Thank You
Tech Michael
