Customer Question

I have a kenmore oven, model number C970-441221. Today, the power went out in my condo building and when it returned on, the oven began to beep. Going over to it, I managed to make it stop, however, there was a red lock icon on the time screen. when I went to cook later on, the stovetop would not heat. The oven works and heats, but not he stovetop.

What can I do to make the stovetop work again?

Hello,

The _0 pad is used to activate the Cook top Lockout feature. Press and hold _0 for five seconds to unlock the cook top. If that does not work the control would need to be replaced because its shorted.

By "_0" do you mean the number pad? I didn't see a button marked like that.

On this model it looks like it is.

Customer replied 330 days and 17 hours ago.

I held down the "0" button but the lock symbol is still there. Is it only the "0" button i should hold down?

Ok before you replace the board press the clock button in for 5 seconds?

If that doesn't work press the stop pad for 5 seconds.

If those do not work it looks like you have a shorted clock and it needs replaced.

Customer replied 330 days and 17 hours ago.

Pressing the clock button only makes the time change and pressing the stop button makes the oven door lock.
