Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today. Is the refrigerator or freezer cooling? And if you open up the freezer door, do you hear a fan running inside the freezer?
Hello and thanks for the help.
No is not cooling at all, but was working this afternoon. the fan is working and the unit starts and then goes off after 5 seconds.
OK so this means that your compressor is overloading and cutting out. It will turn off for a few minutes and then try again over and over. Pull the refrigerator forward and unplug the refrigerator. Remove the lower back access panel and locate your large black round compressor. There is a small plastic box attached to the side of the compressor with several wires going into it. This is your overload relay. Pull the overload relay off the compressor and shake it. If it rattles, then it needs to be replaced. If it doesn't rattle, then you likely have a bad compressor and you'll need to call a technician in order to replace the compressor.

Hi again, is there a chance that is the overload relay. It is not rattling and the compressor goes back on and off.
It's still possible the overload relay is bad, or sometimes just unplugging the refrigerator will fix the problem if you leave it unplugged for a few hours and the compressor cools down as well. But there is no way to really know for sure without just unplugging the unit or replacing the relay and trying.
