GE REFRIG GSS22JFMAWW Damper STAYING CLOSED AND REFRIG SIDE STAYING WARM BUT FREEZER IS OK,HOW CAN IF FIX IT?
Optional Information: Brand: GE Type of Appliance: Refrigerator Already Tried: NOTHING
Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today.Shut the doors and peel back the door seals. Are the lights on inside the Refrigerator or freezer?
NO
OK, so if the damper isn't opening at all and the lights are shutting off, then the unit isn't in liner protection mode. Remove the lower back panel in the freezer and see if there is frost build up behind the back panel.
are you still with me?
YES I AM HERE,SORRY
OK, so again if the damper isn't opening at all and the lights are shutting off, then the unit isn't in liner protection mode. Remove the lower back panel in the freezer and see if there is frost build up behind the back panel.
NO,I TOOK OFF BACK IN FREEZER,ALSO WHEN I OPEN THE WITH MY FINGER IT WOULD CLOSE ON IT ON.
So what did the coils look like when you took the back off inside the freezer?
COILS WERE FINE,TO BE HONEST WITH YOU,I DO APPL REPAIR AND I HAVE NAIRED IT DOWN TO THE THE DAMPER,HOW TO TEST THE DAMPER TO TELL IF ITS BAD AND DOES THE COLD CONTROL WORKS WITH THE DAMPER OR NOT...THNKS CUZ
You can't test the damper itself. But this has a liner protection mode meaning if you leave the door open for more than 2 minutes the damper will shut. Then if you shut the door for 30 seconds, the damper will only stay open for 30 seconds if you re-open the door.now, if the damper is closing, you either have a bad thermistor inside the refrigerator and the refrigerator thinks that the temperature is already too cold so it's shutting down----or the control board is just bad and telling the damper to shut when it shouldn't. The fact that you open the damper and it shuts again on it's own means that the damper itself is working.
you either have a bad thermistor ,OK THE PART # XXXXX IT COMES WITH THE ((General Electric WR09X10050 Damper & Thermister Assembly ..IS THIS THE THERMISTER U ARE TALKING ABOUT??THNKS CUZ
That is correct yes. If the thermistor comes with the damper on this model, then you'll want to replace the entire damper assembly.
