Hello my name is XXXXX XXXXX you for choosing our service. Please look in the fresh food section up near the top for model/serial sticker and post the model number. I need the model to be able to see the diagrams. The model number for a Whirlpool should start with a letter. If it is all numbers please space them out so I will be able to see them on my side here. 1 2 3 4 5 5 6 6 7 Thanks,Barry

Thank you, XXXXX XXXXX flashlight and open the freezer door. Shine the flashlight up into the dispenser from the outside and look down the inside. Can you see any of the light coming through?Barry
OK. I little bit. Then I reversed it and shined the light from the inside out. I only light came thru around the outer ledges because the paddle and most of the area is frosted over.
Thank you, XXXXX XXXXX be something inside the dispenser broken or loose.UNPLUG THE UNIT. And at the bottom of the face of the dispenser under the bottom (GREEN ARROWS) are 2 slots for a screw driver. Pry that slot a little while pulling down and out at the corner you are working with and that corner will pop off. Repeat for the other side. Then lift the dispenser face straight up and off the holders at the top. Be sure to mark your wires or make a small diagram so you can get the wires back where they belong.Once you get the face off you can see the screws to remove the rest. See if you can see whats broken or not quite right up inside there, and let me know please which number it is and I can get the part number for you.BarryCLICK TO ENLARGE
Am I on a time limit? I will need my husband to help me. It might take a while. I really appreciate your time & help.
I am sorry for the delay, they are working on the internet over here. You are very welcome, save the page link at the top of the page and you can return right here. My normal hours are 8 to 8 eastern time but I plan to stay longer this evening if I can, well as long as my body will let me.No time limit, just post when you are ready.BarryBarry G41036.9006408565
Let's aim for tomorrow. We are in AZ & 3 hrs behind you. Also, I am 74 & my hubby is 82 so we will probably all crash at the same time EST.The bin is full of ice and so far still spitting it out so no hurry. We can dump it into something else & be just fine. Thks again & have a good evening. If you do not hear from me (BECAUSE I LOSE YOU). Maybe you could get back to me - just remember we are 3 hrs behind so I may be a while getting back. It should be 6:00 your time - go home or whatever you want but stop working:).
Tomorrow I will not be here until about 4pm your time. I have to take someone to the airport. But I will be here after that. Also I will contact another tech whom I know is familiar with your model just in case that happens that you need to start earlier or in case I am late. Thanks for the opportunity. You folks have a really nice night.Barry
Sending you my update. Before dismantling anything I decided to go back to my 1st issue & that was the filter button. Wondering if that might be causing the frost buildup. I went to the store to get (another) new filter but did not have the # XXXXX me & got the wrong one. However, the salesman did a demo on a new floor model & discovered you need to push the filter in very hard for the button to pop out. Came home & tried it with no luck. I will return to the store & get the right #filter & try again. It may be the spring. Tried turning off the ice maker & seems the frost stopped building. Both problems started about the same time so I am trouble shooting anything I can think of. Hope you are having a good day - mine is very frustrating.
I just got in, when you turn the ice maker on does the bottom get warm? Be careful the bottom of the ice maker could be very hot. Can you find small drops of water on the bottom of the ice maker?BarryBarry G41037.8711245718
Bottom is cold with some frost. However I have taken the filter out to see what happens. I think the overall frost dissolves after a while. Will be leaving in an hour for dinner & get the other filter. Will give you an update when I can. Probably later tonight after you leave work. If you have any ideas let me know. Appreciate your efforts.
I really appreciate the opportunity, Thank You!.That sure is odd, let me know and maybe we should go back to the freezer door again. You folks enjoy your dinner and take care.===============================================================UNPLUG THE UNIT. Everything is on hold. We have a medical emergency. Will get back to you whenever I can. Thks and have a great day.
I understand,,, let me know when you can.Barry
Received your recent question regarding payment. However it would not connect so am using a past reply.Update: I solved the filter problem. Put in a new one & all worked. Button snapped out as it should. Checked to see if it affected the frosting but it didnot. Now I have reduced the water pressure and will clean up the ice bin AGAIN. Will let you know asap. Sorry to hold up payment but really do not want to have to dismantle it.
Hello I'm Larry and I will use all my training and knowledge of 40 years to help you with your Problem today ,, thanksdo you need further help at this time
I have been working with Barry G. He has been very nice & helpful. However: I am not wanting to pursue his last suggestion - dismantle the front of the ice dispenser. My problem is: I have frost buildup on the bottom of the ice bin. Also drips of ice on the bottom of ice bin door (flap) It also frosts on the paddle inside the dispenser in the freezer not the freezer door. Do you have any other ideas?I have tried cleaning it out 3 times, lowering the water pressure, turning off the ice maker (lifting the bar). If I have to follow Barry's suggestion, I will have to find someone else to do it.
barry has opted out so not to stay on this question but you will have to snap off the front of the dispenser and replace the door chute assembly, part number(NNN) NNN-NNNNwhich cost about $54 and you can get it at a local appliance parts dealer near you wich will come with step by step instructions to swap it out and this will fit the problem with the fridge ,, Glad i could help you with your problem so please press the accept or big smiley face for me before you leave for my time and knowledge ,, thanks
