Hi, thanks for using JustAnswer.com. Please remember, I do not get paid for my time and expertise until you accept. Open the freezer and listen closely for a fan running inside the freezer. Can you hear it running? May I please have your model number so I am able to provide you with accurate, model specific information?Kelly
The fan is running - model # XXXXX
Look at the back wall inside the freezer, is it covered in frost or clear?
It has frost on it
Okay, you have a defrost problem. There are three defrost components, the heater, thermostat and timer. The most likely to have failed is the thermostat. You will need to remove all the freezer shelving and pull the back cover from inside the freezer off to thaw the coil out and access the thermostat and heater for testing. Are you able to disassemble the freezer and do you have a meter to test with?
I can disassemble the freezer but I do not have a meter, should I call a tech on this.
Well, the thermostat may be visually checked for deformity, but if it looks good, you will need a meter to determine if it is faulty. Without a meter, it is a guess. You can thaw the evaporator coil out and it will restore cooling for about a week, enough time to get a technician or a meter. I can help you test if you purchase a meter, you can replace all 3 defrost components, or call a tech. It is up to you.Clicking the “ACCEPT” button will NOT close this question.
