I have a 2 year old whirlpool gold side by side fridge and the compressor does not kick on.
Optional Information: Brand: whirlpool Type of Appliance: Refrigerator Already Tried: I have unplugged the compressor power wires and tested voltage
Hi Im John I will help you with the fridge not starting.
You said you checked the voltage at the compressor is the compressor getting voltage ?
Send me the model number please.
It is a GC3SHAXVS. On the 3 pin connector at the compressor all 3 pins are showing 112-115 volts to ground. But if I go between pins it shows nothing. I had assumed that it would read 230 volts between any combination of the pins.
What about the fan motor by the compressor is it going and the freezer fan motor is it going ?
The fans are going.
If the fans are going the compressor should be going as well are you getting voltage to the two wires going to the compressor.
There are 3 wires on the compressor connector as well as a ground. The compressor says it is a 230 volt compressor, and as I had said it reads voltage from any one of the 3 pins to ground, but not between each other. I have read that the embraco inverter boxes could be a common problem.
Yes if your not getting the voltage to the compressor and the fans are going the inverter is the problem.
I just said that it reads voltage on the 3 pin connector that goes to the compressor when you go to ground. But it does not read a combined voltage of 230 between any combination of the pins. You haven't told me anything relative to what I've been trying to ask.
your not getting 220 volts to the compressor the inverter is the problem.
