Customer Question

I have a Beaumark stacking washer and dryer Model MEX731CAS1 My washer is faulty as it makes pulls in the fabric of my towels, etc. I have ran my hand around both the washer and dryer to feel for any rough pieces of metal etc, I have found nothing. I have had substantial loss to many of my clothing. The serial number is XXXXX I am wondering if anyone else has reported this problem as now I have to wash many of my clothes by hand. I love Beaumark products, have had other appliances in the past (fridge and stove and dishwasher) Please help me in figuring out the problem, is there something I can replace or have repaired? Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today.

Generally when you get this problem where the fabric of your clothing gets torn or pulled, it comes from the dryer. There are gaps around the drum of the dryer toward the back and the front that the clothes can slip between if the felt between the drum and the drum support starts to wear down. The fix is to order and replace the drum seal on both the front and back of the dryer drum which is basically just a piece of felt.

Other than that, check for anything inside that may be out of place or jagged in case something is stuck under a tumbler like a safety pin or something like that.

Thank you for your quick response, however, I am not accepting your answer.

The reason is, my problem is with the washer, not the dryer....I hang 90% of my clothes to dry. Again, I have ran my hands (as well as I had a friend do it) and there is nothing (pin, etc) in my washer. I have also ran my hands down the plastic agitator fins and they too are smooth

If the problem is definitely with the washer, then generaly that means that the clothes are just getting caught below the agitator. There isn't much you can do to fix this issue other than make sure that it's not agitating and spinning the tub at the same time. That happens when the transmission goes bad, but other than that, things getting wrapped around under the agitator is just one of the downsides of this model--but nothing that can be fixed.

I have also removed the agitator and there is nothing stuck under it or inside it. I am very disappointed with this product and was hoping that you could advise me as what to replace. Unfortunately, I am no further ahead with your answer. Thank you for your time, but I will not be accepting your answer. My relative is an expert with appliances and he said that the transmission/motor is good. I believe that I have a faulty machine.

Unfortunately I can not change the way the unit is designed, but like I said things will get under the agitator and get snagged sometimes, but there really isn't much you can do about that.

Again, I appreciate your time, but am not accepting your answer as my problem has not be solved. Please discontinue this conversation and do not charge my credit card.

Thank you,
