these are mechanical timers and run at a certain speed, the timer cant be adjusted , is this not drying the clothes in the allotted time ?

on the front of the dryer theres a little square plastic cap, pop that off and look through the hole, start the dryer and tell me how long the flame stays lit.

Gas stayed on four minutes

Gas came back on after two minutes and stayed on for two minutes

okay, is the vent completely clear ? going outside? try removing the vent and run it again. check the flame once more and see if it stays on longer.

Started again and sofar it has cycled on and off every two minutes

okay the gas valve is not staying open long enough for this to heat to temp. you need to replace the gas valve coils. these are not holding the valve open, they are weak and need to be replaced. heres a link to the part and theres a video on how to replace them. http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Gas-Valve-Solenoid/279834/3479 they are easy to replace. thanks Bryan
