I have a kitchenaid superba fridge and the ice maker has always had problems, but now it isn't filling with water. The model is KSRB25FK5502, made in 8/02.
Any ideas?

Peter :

Does water dispense out the door? If you open the freezer door, of the left wall in front of the icemaker is a white flap with a hole in it, push the flap in holding your hand above the hole and not obstructing the hole, on the right wall you will see a red light, does it stay on with the flap held in?

Customer:

water does dispense. Red light stays on a solid

Customer:

Solid, not flashing.

Peter :

If you reach into the icemaker itself do you feel ice or water or is it empty?

Customer:

It's empty and I've used a hair dryer to remove some stuck ice cubes that i thought were blocking the rotation of the toothed white plastic bar.

Peter :

Was the toothed bar jammed against the ice and how long ago did you remove the ice and has the toothed bar moved since then.

Customer:

Yes, it was jammed (and an ice cube would come flying out of the metal trough, but i've done this over the course of a few days now. Sometimes the bar moves a quarter turn, but i think that's it.

Peter :

You have a defective icemaker. When it jammed it damaged the icemaker.

Customer:

Okay. now what?
