my maytag washer and dryer is about 16 years old and the dryer

my maytag washer and dryer is about 16 years old and the dryer makes a squeaking sound when you first start it and after it has run for awhile it stops making the noise.

The washer got out of balance and when I turn it on the water will notrun

not info inside door but I did find my user guides. on the dryer the model numbers listed are

Hi, my name isXXXXX am eager to help you solve your appliance problems. Three possibilities, drum support roller(rear) or glide(front), belt idler wheel or motor bearing. You will have to take the dryer front off to check the components. Rollers and idler are easily replaceable. Glides if worn too far can damage the drum and motor is expensive.

Sorry, missed the washer question. Lift the lid all of the way, you should hear a clunk which resets the out of balance switch. If you have already done that then it possibly broke the balance portion of the lid switch. You will have to remove the front panel of the washer cabinet and lift up the top of the washer to access the balance portion of the lid switch.
