Hi my name is XXXXX XXXXX manufacturers recommend setting the freezer for 2 degrees and the refrigerator set at 38 degrees for optimal performance. Allot of people have there own personal preference and anything in the 35-38 degree range is good anything less then 35 and you risk freezing food in the refrigerator and anything higher you risk spoilage. In the freezer anything in the range of 2 below and 2 above is good. The freezer setting is a little more forgiving so feel free to adjust the temperature for your hardness preference for ice cream.

Also you stated that you have adjusted the temperature several times, when you make an adjustment give it some time to adjust to the setting and go a little at a time, for a proper reading place some thermometers in the middle of each compartment.
