This answer was rated:

HI XXXXX A GE REFRIGERATOR TFG20JAWW. THE FRIDGE WAS WORKING FINE BEFORE MOVING.
FRIDGE WAS MOVED IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION AND CAREFULLY HANDLED. FRIDGE WAS TILTED TO ALLOW A TROLLEY TO TRANSPORT FRIDGE FROM HOME TO TRUCK AND BACK INTO A HOME AGAIN. TROLLEY WAS PLACED AT THE SIDE OF FRIDGE.

PROBLEM:- FRIDGE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE WORKING AT ALL.
WE HAVE POWER TO FRIDGE AND LIGHT IS WORKING IN FRIDGE.
BUT MOTOR IS NOT TURNING ON.
ANY SUSGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPREICATED.
THANKYOU
SUE

Hi Im John I will help you with the fridge problem.

The number 257 in the breakdown is the defrost timer and it could be stuck in the defrost cycle, remove the lens number 421 and you will see a small hole between two screws, use a small flat screwdriver and turn the small cog slowly if the fridge kicks on replace the defrost timer ,

If it doesnt kick back on get back to me please.

Hi

Thanks,

Daryl tried above solution with no results.

any other sugetions?

Sue

Next to the defrost timer is the thermostat , you can remove the two wires and join them together , now plug the fridge back in and try the fridge if it starts up replace the thermostat.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

That worked

do you know where the thermostat wire runs to in the fridge?

thanks

sue

One wire from the thermostat goes to the defrost timer the other one goes to the fans and the compressor.

Replace the thermostat it will fix the problem.
