my maytag washer at begining of wash cycle, the water level

my maytag washer at begining of wash cycle, the water level does not stop and overflows out of washer. cannot make it go to the wash cycle but able to go to the spin cycle to drain washer. If problem is the water level sensor, where is it?

Your unit has a tube that runs from the tub to number 13 in the picture below. You will need to remove the back panel on the control panel and locate 13(on the far left as you look at the unit). Find the tube that attach's to the water level switch and make sure it is attached. If it is off, cut 1/2 inch off of the tube and reattach it to the switch then test the unit on a small load. If the tube is still connected then you will need to pull the tube off of the switch, with the tub empty, and blow through it. It should be clear with little resistance. If it is clear then you will need to replace number 13 with part number 22001776. You can get that part at www.searspartsdirect.com or www.partselect.com
