my kenmore 80 series is leaking right where the motor conects to the agitator but only sometimes, i have dissassembled my washer and can't figure out exactly where it is coming from
Optional Information: Make: kenmore Model: 92587210 Already Tried: i filled the drum with water and then lowered the drain hose so it would drain and ican see water dripping out of where the motor connects, i removed the three screws that hold the motor to the drum and now i have no leak but when i re-bolt the motor the leak starts again
Hello, my name is Dave. Can you explain a little more? The motor does not connect to the agitator. It connects to the pump and the transmisson.
does it kind of look like a brake drum
The brake and spin drive is in the very center underneath. The gearcase is held in with 3 1/2" bolts and the brake is above that. Is that what you mean?
yes, it is leaking from jus above there, but when i removed those three bolts a droped the motor a few inches the leak stopped
A leak down the center is very unusal for this washer. It would be either a damaged tub or center tub seal or a leak down past the seals in the spin drive. Has the agitator ever been out? There is a large "O"ring seal and flat washer that seal and air pocket under the agitator to prevent this.
the tub appears to be fine because it only leaks when the washer is running or draining and the only time i know of the agitator being removed was when i took it out last night, but i will look at the seals and washer at the base of the agitator.
Okay, most leaks occur where the pump attaches to the motor. Do you see and black or brown streaks to indicate where the leak starts?
not on the pump but i did visibly see water leaking out from between the tub and the brake but like i said it stopped when i lowered the motor and pump away from the tub and the brake
Okay, this is bad news unless there is an something damaged in the center under the agitator. Here is a link to the part in that area. Parts link
I need to leave for a few hours so I will opt out in case what I have told you does not help.

Hi Im John I will help you with the leak problem.
If its leaking from the center the part that has to be replaced is this tub seal.
