I have a kenmore fridge model 596.72259202. 6-7yrs. Old. Bottom pull out freezer. For a while now, its been making a loud grinding noise every ten min. It has an ice maker in the freezer but not hooked up. I removed vent cover and blew out alot of dust and cleaned behind it. But didnt help. Any ideas?

Does the unit seem to be cooling properly in the freezer area?

If you look at the freezer interior rear wall do you see any frost or ice on the rear interior wall?

Customer replied 468 days and 6 hours ago.

No frost or ice buildup

Does it sound as if it is coming from the freezer area?

Customer replied 468 days and 6 hours ago.

I think i found the problem. The arm that says make ice-dont make ice was in the make ice poition.
Would that be it. Cause the sound does sound like the icemaker. And its been quite since i lifted it.

Yes if the icemaker arm was on it will cycle the icemaker.

Let it set for a while and see if it was what was making the noise.
