i have a ge tfx20rjl refridgerator. i replaced the water pump for the ice maker and it will not push water to the ice maker. i have continuity to the wires but when i hook them up to the pump theres no continuity. is there a relay that controls this or another issue
Optional Information: Make: ge Model: tfx20rlj Already Tried: replaced water pump for ice maker
Hi, thanks for using JustAnswer.com. Please remember, I do not get paid for my time and expertise until you accept. The voltage that initiates the water fill comes from the icemaker control head. If you have verified the wires are okay and the valve has been replaced, you may have a faulty icemaker control. Is the water line from the valve to the icemaker clear? Remove the water line from the valve and blow thorough it, let me know what you see.

all lines are clean.the continuity im getting in the wires is around 14vac then nothing when i hook them to the pump
Okay, so the wires to the icemaker are likely good. How long has the new valve been hooked up? The icemaker will only apply power there about once every 3 hours and then only for about 7 seconds. Are you allowing enough time for it to cycle?
i just hooked it up but im wondering why theres no juice to the wires while it is hooked up,but there is when i unhook them
That voltage you are reading is referred to as "phantom voltage" and will go away when a load is connected. This is normal and why any voltage measurements should be made with load applied, in most circumstances.

Yes, just leave it for a few hours and you should be in good shape. You can post back if you have further problems at no additional charge once you accept.
